Leaders of top pro-life groups are unanimous in their response to last night’s presidential election, vowing to not give up fighting abortion and the funding of the Planned Parenthood abortion business.
“Now is not the time to give up, but instead, I hope I can count on you to join me in fighting the President’s radical pro-abortion agenda for the next four years,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser of the Susan B. Anthony List. “Together, we will win this fight. Don’t lose faith. Unborn children and women are counting on us.”
“The most pro-abortion President in our nation’s history was re-elected. That’s the bad news,” Dannenfelser added. “The good news is that we have heroes in Congress – some long-time warriors and some just elected just tonight – who are willing to take him on and fight for unborn children and women. But they are going to need our help.”
Americans United for Life Action president Charmaine Yoest said that despite the possible continuation of the pro-abortion federal policies of now re-elected President Obama, there are opportunities to stop abortions via state legislatures.
“A pro-life majority being retained in the U.S. House also means that President Obama will not be able to force through his radical abortion agenda without opposition,” she said. “At the state level, I believe we will see even more legislatures take back the life issue with model legislation and continue creative abortion limitation in light of Obama’s aggressive pushing of abortion on Americans.”
“Already, AUL has worked with ten states in passing legislation to opt out of permitting taxpayer-subsidized abortion coverage through Obamacare. And we predict that the courts are going to see an ever increasing number of lawsuits as Americans fight for their First Amendment Rights of Conscience,” she added.
Carol Tobias, head of the National Right to Life Committee, also weighed in with encouragement.
“Things didn’t turn out as we wanted, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. Pro-lifers all over the country did everything possible, going above and beyond the almost-unimaginable, putting their hearts and souls into this campaign,” she said. “We will awaken each morning saddened at the future in store for our country; heart-broken at the thought of lost opportunities to save unborn children from abortion, and the elderly and disabled from rationing of medical care. Very few pro-lifers will be filled with regret, thinking they could have done more.”
“I was one of those optimists who believed we could elect a pro-life president and maybe even put a pro-life majority in place in the Senate,” she said. “We do not always understand why something happens, but we do know that we are in God’s hands.”
Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, added, “It is therefore time to recommit ourselves to the basics: a clear proclamation of the truth, an uncompromising fidelity to our principles, and an unwavering commitment to civil disobedience.”
“Meanwhile, the national pro-life groups have done outstanding work in this year’s election, with initiatives, creativity, and energy as great as I have ever seen, and there is no doubt that the election results would have been far worse without that activity,” he said. “The pro-life cause will prevail in America. In the elections of 2014, we will work for a pro-life Senate majority to further blunt the ability of President Obama to damage the cause of life.
“And in the meantime we will continue the cultural progress that is so clearly on the side of life, as more minds and hearts embrace the unborn, as more abortion mills close, and as more women and men speak up about how abortion harmed them,” he said.

As Barack Obama prepares for another term as America’s president, Human Life International President Father Shenan J. Boquet is calling on pro-lifers around the world to stay vigilant, to pray, and not to give up hope.
“Under the most radical anti-life president America has ever seen, the U.S. taxpayers have funded a destructive foreign policy, which has already done great harm around the world,” said Father Boquet. “But we must continue to fight for those who cannot defend themselves, and we cannot lose hope, because the Lord of Life is on our side.”
“We need prayer now more than ever for our unborn brothers and sisters around the world facing death due to the policies of the Obama administration, and for those facing persecution for daring to spread the Gospel of Life,” Father Boquet said. “May Our Lord Jesus Christ give us the strength to run the race and win the fight for life.”
