Prayers are answered. The time and manner in which they are, undoubtedly, are not always what we want or expect. Yet, if we are patient and trust that God answers prayers in His time and as they fit in accordance with His will, we will often be blessed in seeing the fruits of our prayers as He answers them.
With all that’s been going on in Texas, Wisconsin and North Carolina recently, in terms of pro-life legislation being passed, with the announcement of abortion clinic closures in Virginia, I have had the sure feeling that all of these happenings are as a result of God, Himself, answering the prayers that have been made over the past 40 years.
And His answers to prayer keep on coming. Just today, Planned Parenthood announced it was ending services in Texas in Bryan, Huntsville and Lufkin. And as most know, Bryan is THE abortion clinic that Abby Johnson used to direct, THE place where David Bereit and Shawn Carney’s vision for 40 Days was implemented, and Abby was converted.
Shawn, David, and countless other people’s prayers were answered in 2008 when Abby left her position at Planned Parenthood and began her work in the pro-life movement. This answer to prayer was, indeed, big, as we know the amazing ripple effect that Abby’s conversion has had on the abortion industry and in the lives of clinic workers.
But God has shown us that His plan was much bigger than Abby leaving her position at Planned Parenthood.
Through the prayers of faithful pro-lifers and the commitment and resolve of legislators, organizations, and individuals, Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast’s empire is crumbling after the omnibus pro-life bill was passed in recent weeks and signed into law by Governor Perry today.

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I look forward to seeing what prayers are answered next in the fight for life in our country and around the world. If these past few weeks and months are any guide, there are good things in store for the pre-born, for women, men and families. Keep praying those prayers for abortionists and clinic workers to be converted, for clinics to be converted and for lives to be saved and transformed. They will be answered, and God willing, you may see the fruits of them someday soon.
Yet it isn’t just in the legislative arena that the ripple effect of answered prayers has been seen and heard. Years ago, I began asking for prayers in regards to my search for my biological mother and my wish for her to know that she is deeply loved and forgiven for the abortion decision that was meant to end my life nearly 36 years ago. Your prayers and mine have been answered, and I look forward to sharing more about it in my next post.
