Member of Parliament: Police Did Nothing As Abortion Activists Violently Assaulted Us

A Liberal MP from Australia who was one of the victims of a pro-abortion mob that assaulted pro-life advocates at the March for Babies over the weekend says police stood by and did nothing as they were victimized.

From a report on what happened:

“I was belted in the head but I’ve still got the remnants of an egg in my hair,” he told AAP.

“What we saw today was literally a public mugging on the streets of Melbourne and Victoria Police let it happen. We had people being assaulted, being kicked, being stomped on and they sat back and watched.”

Victoria Police played down the protests, saying there were a couple of scuffles between opposing groups but these stopped once police intervened.

“No one has been charged with assault and no matters have been brought to the attention of police,” a spokeswoman said.

Mr Finn also said Liberal MP Andrew Elsbury was pulled down and stomped on. He plans to raise the matter with police.

While police maintain they did their job, Finn wants Victoria Police investigated, saying they didn’t do enough to stop violence. Finn, an organizer of the annual March for Babies, says police did nothing to quell the violence as about 50 protesters attempted to disrupt the pro-life event.

He said he wouldn’t be pressing charges but he will make a complaint to Victoria Police about the lack of action.

“I want an inquiry or investigation into why this was allowed to develop the way it did,” Mr Finn said.

Bryan Kemper, one of the speakers at the event and the leader of the American pro-life group Stand True, offered LifeNews more on what happened and confirmed police were not helpful:

Right now in Australia the March for Life is going on and the pro-lifers are being attacked by thousands of pro-aborts. Near riot situation we are being attacked as we march. Prayers please. Very bad. I’ve been hit many times already. They are surrounding us. Police won’t arrest them. I am in front protecting our people. This is the craziest thing ever. Over a thousand. This is scary.
