47 Abortion Clinics Have Closed in 2013, 72% Have Closed Since 1991

LifeNews.com is reporting that an abortion clinic surreptitiously operated by scofflaw abortionist Steven Chase Brigham in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, called Integrity Family Health has been closed by the state after complaints by pro-life groups linking it to Brigham.

Brigham’s Pennsylvania medical license is inactive and cannot be renewed. In July, 2010, Brigham was banned by the State of Pennsylvania from operating or controlling any abortion clinics in that state citing violations that endangered the public. Brigham is currently not allowed to practice medicine in any state.

It is not believed that Brigham ever personally worked at Integrity Family Health, but he appears to have had control of it and profited from the business.

Operation Rescue confirmed that Eric Kfir Yahav was employed by Brigham at Integrity Family Health and filed a complaint against him earlier this month with the Pennsylvania Medical Board for aiding and abetting illegal abortions and seeking disciplinary action against him. Yahav has deep connections with Brigham and has been employed at his New Jersey abortion clinics.

Brigham’s four previous abortion clinics in Pennsylvania have also been forced to close. His Maryland abortion clinics suffered a similar fate earlier this year after authorities discovered a patient death and drug-administering practices that endangered the lives of patients.

The closure of Integrity Family Health represents the 47th abortion clinic closed so far in 2013. This number does not reflect abortion clinics that temporarily closed then reopened this year.

“We are relieved that Brigham’s shady abortion operation in Philadelphia has been closed. This is yet another example of the flood of closures this year so far and shows that even new abortion clinics that are trying to open or fly under the radar are being caught and closed. This is a victory for women and babies, and for the Pro-Life Movement as we continue to march on toward the goal of an abortion-free nation,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

With the shuttering of Integrity Family Health, 616 surgical abortion clinics remain in the U.S. from a high of 2,176 in 1991. This represents a 72% decline in abortion facilities in the past 22 years, a real indicator that abortion is a failing business.
