Seattle University Society of Feminists, a student group at the Jesuit university, is advertising for jobs and internships for NARAL Pro-Choice Washington on its Facebook page.

The post has been up for about a month, according to the Facebook page.  The site also features a video posting of a nude singer and keyboardist performing a satirical song titled, “Dear Daily Mail.”

seattleuniversitySeattle University Society of Feminists, which was created by students in a Feminist Theory class in 2003, is now posting opportunities for the abortion-rights advocacy organization.  The posting reads, “Travel Seattle and the surrounding areas; keep our communities informed about the ongoing war on women; work for a well-established social justice organization and toward a purpose greater than yourself.”

The student group’s mission, according to the University’s website, is to “promote feminism on the Seattle University Campus and the greater community, and to foster a community within which there is space for dialogue about gender relations.”

The group’s website states that its members “aren’t comfortable with the traditional, seemingly hierarchical, structure” for their internal governance, so they have implemented  “a more matriarchal mythical tradition” that includes titles such as “the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone.”

NARAL Pro-Choice Washington is currently pushing legislation to require insurance companies that cover maternity care also cover abortion. The group is also expressing concerns that Catholic hospitals merging with other hospitals “may lead to access issues for patients seeking reproductive healthcare.”
