Urgent Action Needed to Ban Abortions After 20 Weeks in West Virginia

Unborn babies who are capable of feeling pain won a great victory in the West Virginia House of Delegates. The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act (H.B. 4588) passed out of the House Health and Human Resources Committee without debate on February 17, 2014, and the Judiciary Committee plans to have it on the agenda on Friday, February 21, at 8:00 a.m.

Any pro-life West Virginian with a delegate on the Judiciary Committee should contact their delegate and urge them to pass this important lifesaving legislation. For a list of WV Delegates on the Judiciary Committee, click here or see below.

ultrasound4dAs long as H.B.4588 passes out of Judiciary as expected, the bill will go to the House floor for first, second, and third readings. After the vote for passage (which should pass by overwhelming pro-life margins), the bill will be sent to the West Virginia Senate for passage there.

This legislation will protect West Virginia’s unborn babies who can feel pain from a gruesome death by dismemberment or other horrific abortion techniques. Substantial medical evidence demonstrates the baby’s ability to feel pain is present by 20 weeks of life.

We know that pro-life legislation saves lives. We know that every year legislators don’t pass pro-life legislation, precious little babies die.

The passage of this important lifesaving legislation – the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act – is not possible without the continued support, prayers and action by pro-life West Virginians from across the state.

The Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act is already law in ten states, and has passed the U.S. House of Representatives.

Any pro-life West Virginian with a delegate on the Judiciary Committee (see list below), should contact their delegate and urge them to pass this important lifesaving legislation.  Voicemail messages are appropriate to leave, if a person does not answer.CLICK LIKE IF YOU’RE PRO-LIFE!
