Police say a man strangled a woman in order to force her to swallow the deadly abortion pill and destroy the life of her unborn baby after she informed him she is pregnant.
According to officials, Thomas Pfeiffer, 44, was arrested Wednesday after Ulster County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call that came in with no voice from a Rosendale home. After an investigation, police say Pfeiffer was having a fight with a woman and during the dispute he strangled her and forced her swallow an abortion pill.
The woman eventually made it to the hospital after police arrived on the scene and she had injuries to her back and throat. She was treated and then released.
Pfeiffer is charged with second-degree abortion and strangulation, felonies, and misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief. Police say more charged are pending. Pfeiffer was arraigned in Town of Kingston court and sent to Ulster County jail in lieu of $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond.

Pfeiffer was charged with strangulation, abortion and assault. He’s being held Friday morning in the county jail on $50,000 cash bail. It couldn’t immediately be determined if he has a lawyer.
The woman was treated at a hospital and released. Police haven’t released details on her relationship with Pfeiffer.
