A pro-life advocate was punched in the face Thursday outside a Massachusetts abortion facility, according to police.

The incident occurred Thursday morning at the Women’s Health Services abortion facility in Brookline, Massachusetts, the Brookline Police Department reports.

The names and descriptions of the two individuals were not included in the police report, but Patch.com described the alleged perpetrator as a young, female patient and the victim as a pro-life male protester.

Police said the woman approached the pro-life advocate because she believed he was videotaping her.

“The two exchanged words, the woman struck the man in the face then left the area,” according to police. “Police were able to identify the woman and summoned her to court for assault and battery.”

Several witnesses told Patch that they also saw the incident. Sonia Powell said she saw several men protesting outside the abortion facility Thursday, and one leaned forward to speak to the young woman when she walked out of the door. Powell said the young woman began yelling and then punched the man in the face.

The abortion facility does abortions up to 23 weeks, a point at which many unborn babies now are viable outside the womb.

LifeNews has observed an increase in violence, vandalism and other harassment against pro-lifers, especially those who are praying or sidewalk counseling outside of abortion facilities. In October, for example, a pro-life advocate was taken to the hospital after he was punched in the face and knocked to the ground outside a Planned Parenthood in Naples, Florida. Last June, another Florida man who volunteers at Planned Parenthood was arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill pro-life U.S. Rep. Brian Mast’s children.
