Joe Biden’s Budget Calls Mothers “Birthing People”

Killing an unborn baby is health care, and mothers are not mothers.

At least, that is how President Joe Biden sees it. His administration is trying to redefine terms related to pregnancy and motherhood to push a radical agenda on the American people. The goal apparently is to make irrationality, violence and ultimately the devaluing of human life appear reasonable.

It began on the campaign trail in 2020 when Biden asserted that abortions are “essential health care that cannot be delayed” during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Abortions are not essential or medical care, as tens of thousands of physicians will confirm. They are violent acts that kill unborn babies – unique, living human beings from the moment of conception. Abortions also risk the mother’s physical and mental well-being.

But Biden has joined the billion-dollar abortion industry in trying to convince society otherwise.

Now, he and his administration are trying to erase motherhood.

The Washington Free Beacon reports the president’s $6 trillion 2022 budget plan refers to mothers as “birthing people.”

The Biden administration used the term in a section that includes approximately $200 million to reduce the “high rate of maternal mortality and race-based disparities in outcomes among birthing people.”

However, the Beacon noted that the language in Biden’s budget “is not entirely consistent” because “another section touts paid-leave policies for their success in keeping ‘mothers in the workplace.’”

Some lawmakers and abortion activists have used the term “birthing people” before, but it is the first time the term has been used in a federal government document, according to the Beacon.

Prominent abortion advocacy groups that backed Biden’s campaign are rejecting the term “mother,” too. Earlier this spring, NARAL praised the new term because it includes transgender people.

“When we talk about birthing people, we’re being inclusive. It’s that simple,” NARAL wrote on Twitter. “We use gender neutral language when talking about pregnancy, because it’s not just cis-gender women that can get pregnant and give birth. Reproductive freedom is for *every* body.”

Ultimately, the notion that abortion is health care and the belief that “mother” is discriminatory devalue human life. They ignore individuals’ unique qualities, things that make us who we are. Unborn babies are irreplaceable human beings whose lives are blotted out in the claim that killing them is health care. Likewise, the claim that women and men can both be mothers ignores one of the most special parts of being a woman: the ability to bear children.

Age, sex and so many other qualities make human beings unique and valuable. To erase them does a disservice to us all.
