Former NFL star Benjamin Watson corrected “pro-choice pastor” Raphael Warnock for advocating for the killing of unborn babies in abortions over the weekend, saying a real pastor “knows the value of human life.”

“A pastor knows the value of human life,” Watson, a Super Bowl champion, responded on Twitter. “A senator knows how to support mother AND child. Sir, you know better. Stop being scared.”

Warnock, a pro-abortion Democrat, represents Georgia in the U.S. Senate and serves as the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. In his campaign for Senate, he repeatedly used his Christian faith to try to justify his support for the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

Last week on the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Warnock described himself as a “pro-choice pastor” who thinks the government should stay out of the abortion issue, CBN News reports. In other words, he supports abortions for any reason without limits up to birth.

“As a pro-choice pastor, I’ve always believed that a patient’s room is way too small for a woman, her doctor, and the United States government,” Warnock wrote on Twitter.

But Watson, a Christian and pro-life advocate with Human Coalition, corrected the Georgia politician for leaving out a key person in the situation: the child.

“Is a patient’s room too small for a child as well?” Watson asked.

He shared a study from the Human Coalition that found 76 percent of women seeking abortions say they would “prefer to parent” if their circumstances were different.

“Be careful when someone emphasizes their position in the church before stating what THEY have always believed, NOT what God’s Word says,” Watson wrote. “They’ve sacrificed moral credibility to accrue power and used their religious position as cover for an agenda. It does not have to be this way.”

Since Roe v. Wade in 1973, more than 63 million unborn babies have been killed in abortions in the U.S.

While some Christians throughout history have rejected the truth about the value of unborn babies and the evil of abortion, Christianity always has opposed abortion.

The Bible recognizes unborn babies as valuable human beings in Luke 1:41, Genesis 25:21-22, Psalm 22:10-11 and other passages. Jesus placed great value on children when others in society did not in Matthew 19:14, and Proverbs 6:16-17 states that one of the things God hates most is the shedding of innocent blood. One of the ten commandments prohibits murder.

Science also backs up the belief. Biologically, it is well accepted that a living human being with his/her own unique DNA comes into existence at the moment of conception. Scientists, biology textbooks and other expert sources agree, and it is a reason why many non-religious people also believe abortion is wrong.

Christians and other pro-lifers fight against abortion because they know that abortion is a violent, oppressive injustice against a defenseless child in the womb.
