Joe Biden Refuses to Enforce Law Prohibiting Protesting Outside Supreme Court Justices’ Homes

Joe Biden’s administration has been ignoring a federal law that protects U.S. Supreme Court justices from intimidation outside their homes despite threats of violence from radical abortion activists.

Townhall reports Attorney General Merrick Garland has not enforced the federal law despite on-going protests outside the justices’ homes in response to a leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft ruling that overturns Roe v. Wade.

A few days after the leak, a pro-abortion group published the justices’ private home addresses publicly online, and a number of protests have occurred in their neighborhoods since then.

At least one justice, Samuel Alito, the author of the draft opinion, and his family were moved from their home to a secure location due to the threats of violence. And the U.S. Department of Justice recently announced increased security measures for all the justices.

Protesting and free speech are fundamental rights, but intimidating judges is illegal. Federal law 18 U.S. Code § 1507 prohibits attempts to influence or intimidate judges, jurors, witnesses and court employees by protesting outside their homes.

However, the Biden administration has not been enforcing the law, presumably because its leaders agree with the protesters’ attempts to intimidate the judges into upholding Roe, John Dempsey wrote at Townhall.

“Not every citizen agrees with every law or policy, which is called life,” he wrote. “We can speak out, legally protest and elect representatives that can make changes, but there should not be an angry mass outside judges’ homes to sway their decision – that’s called mob rule.”

Dempsey warned about the impending breakdown of society if this continues, writing:

Garland is fomenting a situation where SCOTUS justices hide from the mob to feel safe. His inaction is negligent at best, and he should be removed from his position, not that anyone better would take his spot. Notwithstanding, a message should be sent to both Garland and the pro-abortion mob that their choice to violate the law, instill fear, and cause alarm will not be tolerated.

Since Garland refuses to enforce the law and the DOJ is a political enforcement division used by Democrats for their wants and needs, Garland happily ignores the aforementioned federal statute and makes excuses for protestors. He is allowing the mob to try and influence federal law. Think about that for a moment. The attorney general of the United States has no issue with them attempting to intimidate and change the mind of Supreme Court justices.

Violence directed at pro-life advocates and conservative leaders has increased since the leak. Last week, the Department of Homeland Security released a report showing that radical abortion activists plan to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their law clerks if the court overturns Roe v. Wade. The report indicates these pro-abortion extremists also plan to target churches and other places of worship with violence and vandalism.

Two pro-abortion groups recently called for churches, especially Catholic Churches, to be the target of abortion activists’ outrage on Mother’s Day, with one urging activists to “rise up and raise hell!”

“The leaked draft memo that states the Supreme Court has struck down #RoeVWade is an ATROCITY but It is not yet law & doesn’t have to be, but what they plan to do & will do if WE don’t stop them. Rise up! & RAISE HELL!” the group Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights wrote on Twitter.

A number of churches and pro-life organizations across the country have been targeted already. Police are investigating arson at two pro-life organizations in Wisconsin and Oregon, as well as vandalism at several pro-life pregnancy centers. Pro-life advocates also have shared videos and reports of being assaulted by abortion activists at rallies and events across the country.

Abortion activists are trying to intimidate the Supreme Court justices to change their minds and uphold Roe after the leaked draft opinion showed the majority voting to overturn the infamous 1973 ruling. The draft is not final, judges can change their minds, and it is not clear when the high court will issue its final ruling on the abortion case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, but many believe the court will overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies again.
