Planned Parenthood announced this week that they will be shutting down another abortion facility in Pennsylvania, making it 17 facilities that have shut down in PA since 2010.
Warminster Planned Parenthood (in Bucks County), where more than 800 abortions occur every year on average, announced they would be closing at the end of June. The reason given was the “reality of the post-Dobbs landscape.”
It’s great to hear. But is the Dobbs decision the real reason for this recent closing? Let’s take a closer look.
Nearly 50% of PA Locations Now Closed
Since 2010, Planned Parenthood has shut down seventeen locations in Pennsylvania. Those closings covered two abortion mills – Easton (2017) and now Warminster (2024) – and fifteen “feeder” sites (locations that did not profit directly from chemical or surgical abortions on-site, and only made abortion referrals). Those closed locations include Ambler (2011), Bristol (2017), Carlisle (2013), Chambersburg (2016), Collegeville (2013), Doylestown (2011), Gettysburg (2016), Hanover (2014), Hazleton (2010), Philadelphia – Chestnut Street (2016), Red Lion (2016), Scranton (2016), St. Davids (2015), State College (2011), and Stroudsburg (2017).
To date, with the Warminster closing, Planned Parenthood operates 21 locations in Pennsylvania, of which 12 profit directly from chemical and surgical abortions.
Note: In recent years, Planned Parenthood opened a new abortion mill in Bensalem (2021) and added chemical abortions at two of their existing feeder locations in Wilkes-Barre (2020) and Lancaster (2023).
History of Failed Inspections
Planned Parenthood has a long history of failed state health inspections. Their Warminster location has failed eight health inspections since 2017 with serious infractions found, including a failure to report a botched abortion after perforating a woman’s uterus (“failed to submit a serious event [death or compromises patient safety] report to the Department”), failure to obtain informed consent, and cases of repeat infractions in follow-up inspections.

One inspection revealed that Warminster staff were not recording patient weights when dispensing anesthetics, putting women’s lives at further risk.
In total, the abortion industry in Pennsylvania has failed over 110 state inspections since 2011.
Record-Breaking Revenue
The Warminster location is part of Planned Parenthood Keystone, one of three regions in PA. According to their latest report, they made over $19.4 million in revenue in 2022, including $1.78 million in taxpayer funding. Both are the highest amounts on record in at least the past decade.
In total, Planned Parenthood statewide has received over $31.7 million in taxpayer funding over the last ten years. This amounts to $8,700 per day in taxpayer funding.

Increase in Abortions By Video
In the same announcement about the closing of their Warminster location, Planned Parenthood Keystone shared that 70% of their abortions are chemical abortions. They pointed to “telemedicine abortion” as a way they will continue performing abortions in the region.
An abortion by video means Planned Parenthood is forgoing an in-person consultation. No ultrasound is being used to know how far along a woman is in her pregnancy or to determine if it’s an ectopic pregnancy, putting the woman’s life at further risk.
With these concerns in mind, Pennsylvania lawmakers passed a bill in 2020 to prevent abortions by video through telemedicine. Former Gov. Tom Wolf vetoed the bipartisan legislation.
As you may recall, Gov. Wolf was a volunteer escort for Planned Parenthood. Ironically, the picture he posted of himself in an escort vest was taken at the soon-to-be-closed Warminster Planned Parenthood.
The rise in chemical abortions and the use of video to forgo in-person consultations is deeply troubling. Planned Parenthood is harming more women in Pennsylvania, as evidenced by the tripling of reported complications from abortion in Pennsylvania in the last five years.
