Los Angeles, CA (LifeNews.com) -- Comedian Chris Rock is the
subject of national controversy following recent remarks he made during
a comedy routine. Rock, slated to host the Oscars next month, promoted
abortion in a profane rant, according to a Drudge Report article.
"Abortion, it's beautiful, it's beautiful abortion is legal. I love going to an abortion rally to pick up women, cause you know they are f------," Rock said during his club routine.

Bordlee, an attorney with Americans United for Life, has seen the comedy
routine and says it is meant as a parody.
"Rock's routine is actually a parody which uses humor to make the point of how legalized abortion facilitates the sexual exploitatation of women," Bordlee told LifeNews.com.
"Chris Rock uses the effective tool of satire
to show that abortion on demand has made women more into sex objects
than we've ever been in the history of the world," Bordlee explains.
In fact, Rock talks about women who he says flippant choose abortion,
when he opines, "It costs $5,000 to deliver a baby. It costs $1,500
to have an abortion. Face it: It's either Jimmy or cable."
While Rock may understand the concept that pro-life advocates have been presenting for years, the politically charged comedian still backs abortions.
In his 1997 book "Rock This," the comedian
says, "Abortion [is] a women's issue. We should have separate Supreme
Courts: one for men, one for women. It's bad enough that a bunch of
men get to vote on abortion. I wouldn't want a bunch of women voting
on what I could do with my [testicles]."
This isn't the first time the abortion part of his routine has brought
him criticism.
Rock was heckled in 2001 at Carnegie Hall when he went into the abortion
monologue.
"Abortion should be legal until the kid's 6 years old and you see
that first report card" didn't win any fans.
Oscar telecast procuder Gil Cates chose Rock to host the Oscars to boost ratings. According to Drudge, leading members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences are concerned about the choice of Rock as the host of the awards show.
The abortion comments follow on the heels of a recent interview in which the comedian blast the Oscars.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rock claimed: "I never watched the Oscars. Come on, it's a fashion show. What straight black man sits there and watches the Oscars? Show me one!"
Gates, however, was apologetic.
"Chris's comments over the past few weeks are meant to be humorous digs at a show that some people, obviously including Chris himself, think may be a bit too stuffy
According to the Drudge report, Rock said his comments were taken outof context.
The awards show is set to air February 27.
