Pro-Life Group Says Time Warner Also Funds American Girl Partner

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A pro-life organization says American Girl isn't in the only company funding Girl's Inc., a group that helps girls with self-esteem and scholastic issues but also supports abortion. Life Decisions International says Time Warner heavily supports the organization.

The American Girl doll company came under a national boycott form some pro-life groups earlier this month because of its campaign with Girls Inc. to sell bracelets with the message "I can." The proceeds help fund positive services for girls, but the girl's group, on it's web site, takes a strong position in favor of abortion and Roe v. Wade.

But Douglas Scott, president of Life Decisions International (LDI), blasted Time Warner for its "ongoing support of pro-abortion entities." Time Warner donated $600,000 to Girls Inc., a group the company characterized as "a national nonprofit that inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold."

"Actually, Girls Inc. is a nonprofit that indoctrinates girls so they become pro-abortion advocates," Scott said. "Considering its philosophy, one could reasonably predict that many of these 'strong, smart, and bold' girls will eventually end up lying on a table in front of an abortionist. And Girls Inc., along with the corporations that support it, will be largely responsible."

Time Warner has been on LDI's boycott list because it also supports Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion business.

"Groups that work with young people need to get out of the abortion-advocacy business," Scott said. He identified Girls Inc., YWCA, Camp Fire, Girl Scouts, and Outward Bound as nonprofits that either have a pro-abortion policy statement or have worked with groups that do.

"It's time for those who care about children to confront these groups and tell them they have a 'choice.' They can stop engaging in pro-abortion activity and working with pro-abortion groups or they can stop working with children," Scott said. "Adults need to stop using organizations that could be doing a lot of good to advance their personal agendas."

Time Warner Inc. owns companies such as The Cartoon Network, Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, DC Comics, The WB, CNN, HBO, Cinemax, AOL, CompuServe, Warner Bros., several book publishing firms, and publishes many magazines, including BabyTalk, Elle, Entertainment Weekly, Fortune, In Style, Life, Marie Claire, Parenting, People, Soaplife, Sports Illustrated, Teen People, Time, TV & Satellite Week, and Woman.
