Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A leading pro-life political group has issued endorsements for several pro-life members of Congress. Family Research Council Action issued the endorsements of the incumbent lawmakers and said their pro-life voting records were a crucial factor in determining the endorsements.

FRC Action endorsed Congressman Paul Broun Jr., M.D of the Georgia tenth Congressional District.

"Congressman Broun is a staunch defender of the family and provides the gravitas of being a pro-life physician," said David Nammo, executive
director of FRC Action.

The group also supported a trio of Colorado lawmakers, including Marilyn Musgrave in the fourth district, Doug Lamborn in the fifth district, and Robert Schaffer for the U.S. Senate seat representing Colorado.

"Congressman Doug Lamborn is a proven friend of the family and an FRC Action True Blue Award winner," Nammo said. "He is dedicated to fighting for the family, either as a supporter or sponsor of pro-life, pro-family legislation."

About Musgrave, the group said she "shows exemplary courage and determination to protect the family, despite being the target of leftist groups who consistently make concerted efforts to oust her from Congress."

Connie Mackey, the group's senior vice president said she has worked with Schaffer "and have consistently been impressed by his integrity, intelligence and assiduous approach to advancing and protecting the family, especially when it comes to protecting the unborn."

The pro-life group also endorsed Delegate Robert Marshall for the U.S. Senate representing the state of Virginia.

"Delegate Marshall is the conservative candidate in this race," said Mackey. "He drafted and led the way for Virginia's partial-birth abortion ban bill."

"He has proclaimed that he is a conservative, he has acted like a conservative, and he has won many battles as a conservative," she said.

Marshall is taking on former Governor Jim Gilmore and Mackey said her group couldn't support him because "Gilmore has insisted that abortion remain legal for up to the first eight weeks of pregnancy."

Under Gilmore's policy it would be legal for approximately 700,000 unborn children to be killed each year. There is a clear and significant difference between Bob Marshall's claim to the pro-life mantle and Jim Gilmore's," she explained.
