St. Louis, MO (LifeNews.com) -- A handful of pro-life groups plan on protesting abortion at the vice-presidential debate next month featuring pro-abortion candidate Joe Biden and pro-life candidate Sarah Palin. The group say they want to expose the divide between the candidates and show that the Alaska governor is strongly pro-life.

Operation Rescue and the Christian Defense Coalition are joining with pro-life groups Defenders of the Unborn, Concerned Women for America, and others to gather at the debate.

Mahoney, of the CDC, says he's excited about John McCain selecting Palin as his running mate and thinks it will help turn out pro-life voters in November.

"Governor Palin has energized the faith and pro-life constituencies like no other," he said. "This is an untapped resource I think is extraordinary."

Two other pro-life advocates echoed those sentiments.

Operation Rescue president Troy Newman said, "Gov. Palin is a ray of hope that God is beginning to answer our prayers for the leadership of our nation. She has helped vault the plight of the pre-born to the front burner of American politics. Sen. Biden, on the other hand, is an enemy of Life and should be exposed and rebuked."

And Mary Maschmeier of the St. Louis group Defenders of the Unborn, added: "She is a pro-life candidate. All Christians must band together to elect her to the White House."

The nationally-televised event will be held in St. Louis on October 2. The groups told LifeNews.com they have both pro-Palin and anti-Biden events planned.

Those include a rally and prayer before the debate at IL Monastero on the campus of St. Louis University and prayer during the debate at Skinker and Forest Park Blvd.
