Hollywood, CA (LifeNews.com) — While just a handful of Hollywood celebrities take a pro-life position, the list of actors and actresses stumping for pro-abortion groups is lengthy. That list grew longer Monday when Felicity Huffman and William Macy issued a Planned Parenthood fundraising letter.
The couple, married in 1997, urge Planned Parenthood supporters to donate to the abortion business — saying it’s time for abortion activists to get on the offense after years of responding to pro-life advocates.
Huffman, a star on television’s Desperate Housewives, and Macy, known for his role in ER and movies such as Sahara, Seabiscuit, and Jurassic Park, say they are "sick" of "watching freedoms we take for granted being rolled back bit by bit."
"It turns out America is sick of it, too," they claim and celebrate the November elections that handed control of Congress to pro-abortion lawmakers.
"We support Planned Parenthood because we believe life is sacred," they ironically say. "If you share our beliefs, we urge you to donate to Planned Parenthood."
Wendy Wright, the president of Concerned Women for America, told LifeNews.com that she thinks Huffman and Macy are out of step with most Americans.
"Celebrities live up to their reputation of Hollywood, not American, values when they support Planned Parenthood’s radical agenda," Wright said.
"Planned Parenthood already receives obscene amounts of government funding and corporate donations and they charge for their services. Yet they have the audacity to beg for personal donations in order to lobby for more government funding," Wright added.
The actors say they agree with Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards, who wrote in a strategy memo last month that the abortion business needs to star playing offense.
"And we can’t wait to join her. That’s why we hope you’ll make a year-end gift to Planned Parenthood," Huffman and Macy say. "Because if you think anti-choice extremists are going to roll over and play dead while Rep. Nancy Pelosi helps to restore lost reproductive freedoms, think again."
"If these groups achieve what they’re shooting for, we could lose all the freedoms that we take for granted today. And they will be relentless in pursuing their goals," the couple conclude.
This isn’t the first time the couple has been involved in supporting abortion as they campaigned for pro-abortion presidential candidate John Kerry in 2004.
