Pro-Life Youth Making a Difference in Stopping Abortion

In 1991, I was a girl of 9 years old. Scraggly and insignificant to the world’s perspective, but I was taught in my family about the significance of the life of the unborn. I knew abortion was wrong- before God, before man, and before the very description of our American constitution.

I believe there were millions in America brought up just like me in the face of the aftermath of Roe v. Wade who knew the same thing. There was a historical echo of Truth into all of our lives. And it was this: Abortion is wrong and abortion must end. And another Truth filled us with Hope: One day we would no longer be scraggly 9 year olds. One day, even 20 years from then, we would be adults who voted, prayed, and spoke out for the unborn. We knew the significance of our life for Life.

In 1991 there were 2,176 abortion centers in America.

20 years later, in 2012, there are only 660 abortion centers in America.

Does that sound like the 9 year olds in 1991 are standing in the gap? They are. They are making a stand. And not just them, but the ones before them, and the ones 11 years after them. And realistically, the ones after them. They just cannot cast a vote, yet. These ones, these precious ones are the “Generations of the Shift.” They were called by God before the foundations of the earth to be set apart—for this season—for this hour—for this time to be prophets for the nations, to stand in the gap for Truth, to set the captives free, and bring the Kingdom’s will to earth.

A new Gallup poll shows that 50 percent of American adults now call themselves Pro-life increasing them 5% from 2011, and only 41% of American adults now call themselves Pro-choice bringing them down 8% from 2011. That is a drastic shift in only one years time.

Gallup started polling American adults on their stance on abortion back in 1995. At that time, 56% of American adults considered themselves Pro-choice, whereas 33% of adults defined themselves as Pro-life. Obviously, even more since then, the shift in this country has been moved increasingly toward the Pro-life gap and away from the Pro-choice camp, with the majority of American adults now declaring themselves Pro-life.

It gets even clearer. The amassed Pro-life stance in our country is not limited to only older adults. A 2010 Gallup poll proves that Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 (the later being me…aka, use to be scraggly 9 year old in 1991) have been heralding their voices and standing up to declare themselves Pro-life before all of America. In 2003, 40% of that age group considered themselves Pro-life. By 2010, that percentage had increased to an amazing seven point increase. Meaning 47%!

The numbers don’t lie. Your America has given her moral outcry. And that is in an hour of a pro-choice president. America is speaking. Do you hear her? I tell you, God does.

God has called us- generations of Roe v. Wade, scraggly 9 year olds of 1991, and the new generation of today to stand up for what is right in the sight of God. We are the Generations of the Shift. And we’re rising up for such a time as this for the ending of abortion in America.
