Inspired by the movie “Unplanned,” pro-life people across the country held candlelight vigils at Planned Parenthood abortion centers on Saturday. The simultaneous event took place at 166 Planned Parenthood abortion businesses.

Unplanned tells the story of Abby Johnson, who left her position as the manager of a Planned Parenthood facility in Bryan, Texas, after participating in an ultrasound-guided abortion, and became a nationally known pro-life advocate. Planned Parenthood is the nation’s largest abortion company, and does more than 36% of all abortions in the United States every year.

Here’s an update from Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League:

This past weekend’s National Pro-Life Candlelight Vigil was an outstanding success. In all, 166 vigils were organized at Planned Parenthood facilities in 40 states in six time zones.

Based on reports from local leaders, total turnout is estimated to have topped 10,000, including many for whom this was their very first time participating in pro-life activism. Many said that they were motivated by seeing the movie Unplanned, which tells the story of Abby Johnson, a Planned Parenthood manager turned pro-life activist.

The largest reported crowds were 350 in Aurora, Illinois; 300 in Tampa, Florida; and 275 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Counter-protesters turned out in a few locations we well.
