President Donald Trump nominated another solidly pro-life leader this summer to be the United States ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva.
Andrew Bremberg currently serves as the chief of the White House Domestic Policy Council. In the past several years, he has been a key advocate for pro-life policies within the Trump administration.
The Guardian reports Bremberg encouraged Trump to expand the Mexico City policy, which prohibits foreign aid from funding groups that provide and promote abortions overseas. The policy defunded two major abortion chains of hundreds of millions of American tax dollars. The International Planned Parenthood Federation alone estimated a $100 million loss from its budget.
He also helped bring other pro-life leaders into the Trump administration as co-chair of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services transition team, according to the report.
And in June, he refused to back down on his defense of the unborn when a top Senate Democrat grilled him during a Foreign Relations Committee meeting.
According to The Hill, U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez, a pro-abortion Democrat from New Jersey, asked Bremberg about abortions in cases of rape.
“Senator, I don’t believe that abortion is a moral solution to any problem,” Bremberg answered.
Later, he told the senator that one of his family members is a rape victim, and “any suggestion that I do not care for the victims of rape” is “horrendous.”

Menendez then raised a recent Security Council resolution on ending the use of sexual violence in conflicts. U.S. officials reportedly threatened a veto, leading to the removal of language on reproductive health services for victims.
“If in a conflict, a woman gets raped and ultimately as a result of that rape ends up with a child, a pregnancy she did not seek and that was forcibly put on her, you are telling me that it will be your position … that woman cannot ultimately have access to a legal abortion?” he asked.
“I am pro-life, I believe that all human life is sacred and that human life begins at conception,” Bremberg began.
“So when you’re raped, a woman has no rights,” Menendez interjected.
“I find that suggestion horrific to suggest that a rape victim has no rights,” Bremberg responded.
If confirmed, Bremberg said he will vote against any UN resolution that promotes the killing of unborn babies in abortions, according to the Guardian.
The UN often advocates for abortion on demand, but the Trump administration has been working against its radical pro-abortion agenda. In 2017, the Trump administration stopped funding a United Nations agency linked to forced and coerced abortions. The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) “partners on family planning activities with the Chinese government agency responsible for these coercive policies,” the administration said in defense of its decision. China’s oppressive one child policy, recently changed to a two-child limit, has led to forced and coerced abortions up through nine months of pregnancy, as well as forced and coerced sterilizations.
