A young Florida teenager who went missing for nearly a year allegedly was raped and forced to abort her unborn baby by a man twice her age, according to police.
Now, questions are being raised about whether the abortion facility reported the suspected abuse to authorities.
The Sun Sentinel reports police found the 15-year-old girl and her alleged abuser, Christopher Johnson, 30, of Davie, Florida, last week after the girl’s mother found pornographic images of her daughter online.
The girl appears to have been statutorily raped; the age of consent is 18 in Florida.
The girl has been missing since November 2018, according to the Mirror. Police said they received several calls about her being spotted with a man, allegedly Johnson, at a convenience store, but they were not able to track them down until last week.
According to police, Johnson may have forced the girl to abort her unborn baby after she became pregnant by his alleged abuse, the Daily Star reports.
“The victim stated that she got pregnant from the defendant and he took her to the clinic to have an abortion,” police detective Adam Granit said.
Police said they found paperwork from an abortion facility in Johnson’s apartment. It is not clear if the abortion facility, which is not named in reports, alerted authorities about the suspected abuse of the young girl.

Here’s more from the Daily Star:
Johnson was initially spotted with the missing girl in February at a 7-Eleven in town of Davie in Broward County, a report suggested.
CCTV footage from the store showed the girl was trying to shield her face so she wouldn’t be seen by the store clerk, who recognized her face.
Witnesses then called the police to report the sighting. It was then police began surveillance outside Johnson’s apartment.
She was later found in the passenger seat of a car and it is believed she has since been reunited with her family.
According to the reports, some of the sexually explicit photos and videos posted online showed Johnson as well as the young girl.
Johnson was arrested last week, and currently is facing charges of lewd battery. According to local authorities, he denied having sex with the girl.
The reports raise questions about whether the girl may have been found sooner if the abortion facility had reported the suspected abuse to authorities. It is not clear if it did. The abortion industry has a history of failing to protect abuse victims.
In April, Louisiana pro-life advocates urged state authorities to investigate the Bossier City Medical Suite abortion facility after discovering evidence that it may have failed to report the rape of a minor.
Similar failures have been documented at abortion facilities in Alabama, Kansas, Indiana, Ohio and other states. A report Alliance Defending Freedom documented multiple instances of Planned Parenthood performing abortions on sexually abused minors and failing to report the rapes to authorities as required by law.
