Abortion facilities are making sure their doors remain open during the coronavirus outbreak so that they can continue to abort unborn babies.
Though almost all abortions are elective and world health leaders are concerned about limited supplies and staff to treat people with the virus, abortion activists are insisting that abortions must continue.
Global News Canada recently spoke with people in different parts of society about how they are adapting to the coronavirus outbreak. The report included several abortion workers who claimed that their work aborting unborn babies is essential.
“We do not see abortion services as elective,” said Clare Hacksel, executive director of the Choice in Health Clinic in Toronto. “They are an essential service, and our goal is to maintain operations while maintaining staff and client safety as much as possible.”
Her facility aborts unborn babies up to 15 weeks of pregnancy. She told the news outlet that they are not allowing patients to bring someone in with them right now because of the virus.
“We know that having a support person can be the difference between being able to access your abortion or not,” Hacksel said.

She said they also are doing post-abortion counseling over the phone, rather than in person.
Other abortion facilities in Newfoundland and Labrador and Toronto have not stopped abortions either. Athena Health Centre in St. John’s said it is asking patients who have traveled outside the province recently to wait 14 days before coming in for their abortions, according to the report.
“We are continuing to offer these [abortion] services as we normally do,” said a spokesperson for Women’s College Hospital in Toronto.
Abortions are not health care. They do not save lives. They destroy them. Unborn babies are unique, living human beings from the moment of conception, and they deserve a right to life. Abortions also can put women’s health at risk. Common complications include infections, blood clots, hemorrhaging and an incomplete abortion where parts of the baby remain inside the mother’s womb. Abortion risks include future preterm births, breast cancer, suicide, anxiety/depression, and death. And it simply is not true that abortions are safer than childbirth.
Pregnant women and their unborn babies deserve better than what the abortion industry sells to them. Saving people’s lives always should be a medical priority, but especially during a global health crisis, the world’s resources should be focused on saving lives, not killing them.
