The issue was never whether but when Planned Parenthood’s political action arm would endorse pro-abortion former vice president Joe Biden. Now it’s happened via a statement and a video.
In one of those unintentionally revealing comments PPFA so often trades in, Alexis McGill Johnson, Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s acting president, told NPR, ahead of the announcement, “This is literally a life and death election.”
She added, “This election we have a choice — between Donald Trump, whose incompetence and disregard for the law are a danger to us all, and Joe Biden, who is committed to fighting for reproductive health and rights for all.”
As Reuters’ Joseph Ax reported, “The group praised Biden’s role in the passage of the Affordable Care Act while serving as President Barack Obama’s vice president and for his longstanding support for reproductive rights.”
For his part, Biden, who has shed any semblance of “moderation” on abortion, is shown in the video pledging his solidarity with an organization that aborts over 320,000 unborn children each and every year. “As President, I’m going to do everything in my power to expand access to quality, affordable health care, including reproductive health care. I’m proud to stand with Planned Parenthood in this fight.”
Liz Brown-Kaiser of NBC News observed, “The statement even goes on to point out that Biden is committed to repealing the Hyde Amendment, which largely bans federal funds from being used for most abortions.”

Of course, Biden already crossed that Rubicon. A little over a year ago, after reaffirming his long-time support for the Hyde Amendment (credited with saving over 2 million lives), he reversed course in less than 24 hours. Biden’s promissory note to Planned Parenthood is just as hefty as all the other pro-abortion Democrats who ran for the party’s presidential nomination.
The stories about the endorsement including the obligatory “we-weren’t-sure-about-Joe-but-now-we-are” statements. But nobody’s fooled. Biden is now one of them—body and soul—and they know it.
