The Pro-Life Choice This November Could Not be Any Clearer: President Donald Trump

The contrast between President Donald Trump and Joe Biden on the abortion issue could not be sharper.

One supports protections for unborn babies. The other supports abortion on demand and wants to force taxpayers to pay for it.

That’s why, for Mary Vought and many other Americans, “the pro-life choice this November could not be clearer.”

In an opinion piece for Newsweek, Vought, the executive director of the Senate Conservatives Fund and a board member of Pro-Life Voices for Trump, explained why pro-life voters should support the Republican president.

“Replacing Donald Trump with Joe Biden would do incalculable harm to the pro-life movement and to the millions of Americans yet born who are dependent on us to stand up for their most basic rights,” Vought wrote.

She said the proposed 2020 Democratic Party platform supports more abortions, not fewer, and Biden does, too.

Vought wrote:

The draft platform says “every woman should be able to access high-quality reproductive health care services, including safe and legal abortion.” The phrase “safe and legal abortion” echoes wording used by former President Bill Clinton—except that Clinton talked about keeping abortion “safe, legal and rare.” The omission of those critical last two words comes as no accident, as the Democrats have moved ever-leftward to support unlimited, taxpayer-funded abortion-on-demand.

The platform proposal also supports codifying Roe v. Wade into federal law, which would make it more difficult for states to pass even minor, common-sense protections for unborn babies. It also calls for the end to the Hyde Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer-funded abortions in federal spending, and restored funding to the billion-dollar abortion chain Planned Parenthood.

“At a time when the nation has focused on racial justice, Democrats’ support for the abortion industry shows particular cruelty toward African-Americans,” Vought continued, noting how African Americans have a disproportionately high number of abortions in the U.S.

She pointed to New York City health statistics showing that more African American babies are aborted in the city than are born each year – “a truly sad and shocking indictment of our culture.”

Yet Democrat leaders are pushing for policies that would lead to more unborn babies being aborted each year.

“While Democrats want to expand this pro-abortion culture of death, President Trump has stood firmly for pro-life principles since taking office nearly four years ago,” Vought said.

She said Trump has appointed pro-life judges to federal courts, and he has passed policies to defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion groups of Americans’ hard-earned tax dollars. He supports the Hyde Amendment and has promised to sign pro-life legislation to prohibit late-term abortions and protect newborns who survive abortions from infanticide, if they reach his desk.

These are some of the reasons pro-lifers support Trump, but there are nearly 1 million more. Every year, nearly 1 million abortions are done in America. Each abortion represents a unique, living unborn child who deserved a right to life. Biden’s policies would expand this destruction and treat the killing of a precious unborn child as basic, “essential” health care. Trump, in contrast, believes unborn babies deserve to be protected under the law.
