Another mother reportedly died along with her unborn baby this summer in a supposedly “safe, legal” abortion, this time in India.

The news of her death comes shortly after reports of two other women dying in abortions as well as their unborn babies.

The New Indian Express reports the Indian woman, identified only as a 25-year-old mother of two, died after an abortion Monday at the Pudukkottai Government Medical College in Tamil Nadu, southern India.

Her family filed a police report after her death, accusing the hospital of negligence, according to the report.

The woman’s family said she underwent a tubectomy sterilization procedure in 2018 at the same hospital. However, ten days ago, she began suffering from severe stomach pain and went to the doctor; there, she learned that she was pregnant, the report continues.

Her uncle Murugan told the news outlet that the doctor advised her to have an abortion at the hospital where she had been sterilized.

“Initially, they tried to abort the fetus through medication,” Murugan said. “When that didn’t work, they opted for surgery on Monday morning. However, she died during the procedure. Doctors said there were some complications, but we suspect negligence to be the cause.”

The woman leaves behind two children, according to the report.

Abortions are legal for basically any reason up to 20 weeks in India and later in certain circumstances.

Legal or illegal, abortions always are dangerous, and sometimes they kill mothers along with their unborn babies. Earlier this month, the Blackpool Gazette reported about another mother who died in England from a supposedly “safe, legal” abortion. This week, LifeNews also reported on news of another woman dying along with her unborn baby after an illegal abortion in Nigeria.

Additionally, Operation Rescue recently uncovered new evidence of yet another mother’s abortion death, Kenniah Malinda Epps, in California in 2014.

LifeNews has documented many cases where women died along with their babies after legal abortions. These include Tonya Reaves, Cree Erwin, Lakisha Wilson, Diana Lopez, Holly Patterson and others.

As of 2008, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control reported more than 400 women died from legal abortions in the United States, including 12 that year. Since then, nearly 50 more women have died, according to the most recent report from the CDC. However, the agency notes that the number is almost certainly an under-count because eight states do not report their numbers to the CDC.

Abortions kill tens of millions of babies every year, too. Worldometer, which keeps a running tally of various statistics, reported more than 24 million abortions so far this year. The total is based on data from the World Health Organization.
