Joe Biden headlined the National Prayer Breakfast today just days after his administration promised to expand abortions to kill more babies than ever before. Biden urged attendees to “spread the faith” even as Biden spreads abortion by sending millions more of our tax dollars to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business.
During his National Prayer Breakfast speech, Biden stressed the importance of respecting multiple faiths and people with no faith. He quoted St. Augustine and Irish poets and closed with the phrase “spread the faith.”
But you don’t “spread the faith” by killing children made in God’s image.
On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, not only did Joe Biden celebrate abortion, he unveiled a new task force designed to promote abortion throughout the federal government as much as possible.
More details of the program have become available, which includes Biden forcing Americans to fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business to the tune of $2 million.
Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, noticed the contradiction of having America’s most pro-abortion president headline a Christian event days after launching a campaign to expand abortion.
“I do not think Joe Biden should have shown up for today’s National Prayer Breakfast. It is an offense to God to worship Him while advancing the direct killing of babies by abortion,” he told LifeNews. “When you lift up your hands in prayer, I will not listen; your hands are filled with blood. (Isaiah 1:15)”
Biden claimed he wanted to see unity.
“How do we unite us again?” Biden said during his speech. “Unity is elusive, but it’s really actually necessary. Unity doesn’t mean we have to agree on everything, but unity is where enough of us, enough of us believe in a core of basic things: The common good, the general welfare, of faith in the United States of America.”
But you don’t achieve unity by killing babies and forcing Americans to pay for it.
63,459,781 babies have been killed in abortions since the Supreme Court legalized abortion in Roe v. Wade in 1973. But Joe Biden wants even more abortions and has unveiled a new task force to promote killing even more unborn children.
To further that abortion expansion, and in part a desire for a retaliation against Texas, which has banned abortions for over 150 days, HHS announced that $6.6 million would go to abortion businesses and groups, including $500,000 to Planned Parenthood of New England, $623,280 to Planned Parenthood of South Texas, and $785,256 to Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas.
While Title X taxpayer money can’t pay for abortions directly, Biden on reversed a Trump-era rule in October that required the abortion company to separate its abortion business from everything else. Biden move makes it virtually impossible to determine if the tax dollars going towards paying to kill babies — and they certainly can fund abortion promotion.
HHS said the grant came in response to the Texas Heartbeat Law, which took effect in September and has saved over 11,000 babies from abortion. The legislation bans abortion after an unborn baby’s heartbeat can be detected, which takes place at about six weeks. The money would “address increased need for family-planning services where restrictive laws and policies have impacted reproductive health access.”
“We recommit to protecting and strengthening access to reproductive health care, including the right to safe and legal abortion care that the Supreme Court has recognized for decades,” said HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra. “Patients have the right to make decisions about their own bodies. In light of restrictive laws across the nation, HHS will evaluate the impact on patients and our communities.
“Once again, we are telling health care providers and patients, we have your back,” Becerra said.
Leading pro-life advocates are not surprised that Biden’s right-hand-man on abortion is forcing taxpayers to fund Planned Parenthood.
Roger Severino, the former head of the Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Civil Rights who is now a senior fellow at the Ethics and Public Policy Center, told the Register regarding the announcement of the task force that “Secretary Becerra was hired to push radical social policies, so it’s no surprise that HHS is focusing on abortion politics instead of the latest COVID surge.”
Prior to his role at HHS, Becerra was involved in many cases involving abortion as California attorney general; in that role, he fell on the side of Planned Parenthood. He vigorously defended a 2015 law requiring pro-life pregnancy centers in California to “disseminate to clients” a message promoting public programs with “free or low-cost access” to abortion and contraceptive services.” A 5-4 Supreme Court decision in 2018 determined that law violated the First Amendment. He also enforced a 2014 requirement by California’s Department of Managed Health Care that all health insurers cover elective abortions in their plans.
Severino added that “with Roe v. Wade about to be sent to the ash bin of history, Becerra is desperate to direct taxpayer dollars to his friends at Planned Parenthood before they lose their profit centers in states that defend life.”
To coincide with Biden’s celebration of Roe and abortion, Biden’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a “Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access,” labeling “abortion access” as essential health care and attempting to “eliminate barriers” to it across government agencies.
Last month, Biden released a statement celebrating the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision that has resulted in killing 63.5 million babies abortions. The decision, handed down on January 22, 1973, overturned pro-life laws offering protection for unborn children in most states across the country, and made abortions legal and virtually unlimited.
Biden’s statement falsely claims there is a right to abortion in the Constitution even though no such right exists.
Biden’s celebrating of abortion is not surprising given that he has governed as the most pro-abortion president in history.
In the last two years, several states have approved new legislation making abortions legal up to the moment of birth. The state of New York led the way and even infamously cheered passage of the bill for unlimited abortions and lit up One World Tower pink to literally cheer baby-killing. Other states like Illinois, New Mexico, Vermont and Massachusetts followed suit — either passing or attempting to pass laws overturning every single pro-life law in the state and implementing unfettered access to abortion any time, for any reason and at taxpayer expense.
This year, New Jersey passed a law legalizing aboritons up to birth.
Biden and Harris want to take that nationwide — with a plan to “codify” Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, the companion Supreme Court cases from 1973 that allowed unlimited abortions up to birth for virtually any reason unless states limited abortions after viability.
During a White House press conference yesterday, Press Secretary Jen Psaki said Biden is in league with top Democrats in the House and Senate to push for a vote on legislation that would overturn every pro-life law in the country and implement legalized abortion up to birth. Psaki says Joe Biden is “continuing to work with Congress” to pass a radical bill in Congress that would overturn every pro-life law in America and usher in abortions up to birth nationwide. The measure is misnamed the “Women’s Health Protection Act.”
The so-called Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755) would be the most radical bill every passed on abortion.
“The Women’s Health Protection Act is designed to remove all legal protections for unborn children on both the federal and state levels,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life (NRLC). “The Women’s Health Protection Act is, in effect, the Abortion-Without-Limits-Until Birth Act.”
Tobias continued, “The only ones to benefit from this legislation would be abortionists and abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood. This legislation endangers women and their unborn children, would expand taxpayer funding of abortion, and would no longer require that a woman be given information about the development of her unborn child.”
Among the protective laws that the bill would nullify:
· Requirements to provide women seeking abortion with specific information on their unborn child and on alternatives to abortion;
· Laws providing reflection periods (waiting periods);
· Laws allowing medical professionals to opt-out of providing abortions;
· Laws limiting the performance of abortions to licensed physicians;
· Bans on elective abortion after 20 weeks when an unborn child is capable of feeling pain;
· Bans on the use of abortion as a method of sex selection. Anti-sex selection laws generally have broad public support in the states in which they are enacted, including support from substantial majorities of women.
The bill would also undo most previously enacted federal limits on abortion, including federal conscience protection laws and most, if not all, limits on government funding of abortion.
“According to pro-abortion groups, if this law is enacted, abortion-on-demand would be allowed in all 50 states, even if Roe v. Wade is weakened or overturned. Elective abortion would become the procedure that must always be facilitated – never delayed, never impeded to the slightest degree,” said Jennifer Popik, J.D., director of Federal Legislation for National Right to Life. “This legislation would invalidate nearly all existing state limitations on abortion.”
Decades ago, Biden called himself pro-life and even supported the Hyde Amendment before flip-flopping during the presidential election to appease abortion activists. Now, as pro-life leader note, he’s a full-fledged evangelist for abortion.
“Joe Biden’s evolution into a virulent supporter of abortion on demand has been solidified by his record number of pro-abortion executive orders and reversal of pro-life policies,” says Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.
Tobias continued, “No one should be surprised at Biden’s actions. In past statements, he has made clear his support for taxpayer funding of abortion and his support for late-term abortions, and abortions performed on unborn children who are capable of feeling pain.”
Voters do not want abortion on demand, but the billion-dollar abortion industry does and pro-abortion groups spend tens of millions of dollars on elections each year. Biden is aligning himself with them, not with the American people or the rights of the most vulnerable human beings in the country.
For most Americans, the day the Supreme Court handed down its decision was a day to mourn — a day to mourn the loss of tens of millions of unborn children — sons and daughters, brothers and sisters lost to a world that values choice over compassion. It was a day to mourn the damage abortion does to women — the medical problems, the mental health issues, the damaging of relationships with friends and family, and the destruction of relationships with God.
It was a day to mourn the culture of death abortion has brought to our nation and our world. A culture that believes death is a solution for those who are considered too old or too ill. A culture that believes human life is a commodity to be created and manipulated.
