With growing hope for an end to Roe v. Wade, pro-lifers all across the globe will gather outside abortion facilities this spring to pray and peacefully advocate for an end to abortion.
Tens of thousands of pro-life advocates are expected to participate in the spring 40 Days for Life campaign, which runs March 2 to April 10. The peaceful prayer campaign encourages pro-lifers to hold a constant vigil outside their local abortion facility to pray and offer help to mothers, fathers and babies as well as abortion workers who want to quit.
Shawn Carney, president and CEO of 40 Days for Life, said this year’s Lenten campaign is the largest ever with 588 cities participating across the world. Find a 40 Days for Life vigil here.
“[This] is also the LAST 40 Days for Life campaign before the release of the Supreme Court decision that could overturn Roe v. Wade,” Carney said in an email to supporters. “Moms, babies, families and the future of the nation all hang in the balance. It’s go time.”
The U.S. Supreme Court heard a major abortion case out of Mississippi in December, one that pro-life advocates hope will overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies from abortion again. A ruling is expected this summer.

“There’s never been a more hopeful, more exciting time to be pro-life,” Carney said.
Since 40 Days for Life began in 2007, pro-lifers have witnessed nearly 21,000 unborn babies saved from abortions, 114 abortion facilities close and 229 abortion workers quit.
Each campaign is community-based and compassion-focused. Helpers of God’s Precious Infants San Diego, for example, is helping to organize seven of the 58 prayer vigils in California this spring.
In Tyler, Texas, Right to Life Smith County already held its kickoff event to encourage people to get involved, CBS News 19 reports. Speaker BJ Garrett, a post-abortive mother, told pro-life advocates that supporting mothers in need can make all the difference in the world.
“It’s all about peacefully praying and supporting these young moms or moms of any age that are already in a really scary situation,” Garrett said.
She emphasized that pro-lifers also need to support women like herself who make the wrong decision and abort their unborn babies.
“The reality is, whether they choose life or choose to go with abortion. They’re going to need love and support,” Garrett said. “There are resources, and we’re here to support you and to pray for you.”
