It appears that abortionist Leroy Carhart wants to abort viable, late-term babies through the third trimester at his planned new abortion facility in Colorado.
After LifeNews reported about the new abortion facility earlier this week, a local pro-life advocate sent a link to his website that advertises third-trimester abortions to women in Colorado.
Carhart is an elderly, late-term abortionist who is accused of nearly killing a woman in a botched abortion. He runs two Clinics for Abortion and Reproductive Excellence (CARE) abortion facilities in Nebraska and Maryland.
KRDO News 13 first reported about his plans to open a third in Pueblo, Colorado later this year, but the report only mentioned abortions in the first and second trimesters.
However, Carhart’s website also advertises “late term” and “third trimester” abortions in Colorado. Currently, when someone clicks on the “schedule an appointment” button, the website directs them to his Bellevue, Nebraska facility for abortions up to 22 weeks or his Bethesda, Maryland for abortions up to 35 weeks.

Presumably, the Pueblo, Colorado facility will be listed as another location for third-trimester abortions once it is up and running. KRDO reports Carhart’s abortion group still is renovating the building and does not have a projected opening date.
Colorado law allows unborn babies to be aborted for any reason up to birth.
However, polls consistently show most Americans believe unborn babies should be protected from abortions in the third trimester. And Pueblo residents have not given up hope about stopping the new late-term abortion facility from opening in their town.
Tamra Axworthy, the CEO of ACPC Women’s Clinic, a pro-life pregnancy center in Pueblo, told the Catholic News Agency that it looks like Carhart wants to open in the Bessemer neighborhood near an elementary school and hospital.
“He sees this as a community that’s going to welcome and support him, and that is not what he’s going to get,” Axworthy said.
She told CNA that they are planning various projects to help raise awareness in the community about abortion and Carhart’s reputation. She also asked people to pray and fast for the effort.
“We’re hopeful that if we can’t shut it down in the court of public opinion, that we can at least ensure that he follows every possible code and regulation to open up that facility,” Axworthy said.
Late-term abortions are especially dangerous to the mother as well as her unborn baby. Operation Rescue reports Nebraska health officials are investigating Carhart after a 35-year-old patient accused him of nearly killing her in a botched abortion in February.
The pro-life watchdog group also recorded evidence of 27 life-threatening medical emergencies at his two abortion facilities since 2012, including one woman who died along with her baby after a late-term abortion in 2013.
During a 2019 interview with the BBC, Carhart shocked journalist Hilary Andersson when he candidly admitted that he kills babies, and he has no problem doing so – even after they are viable. Unlike many abortion activists, Carhart used the word “baby,” too.
