An employee of the Carafem abortion business in Chicago, Illinois, called 911 on February 9, 2023, at 5:35 p.m. to request emergency transport of a 32-year-old woman who was hemorrhaging.
This emergency necessitated two calls to 911 and emergency medical crews were dispatched twice.
The second call was made at 6:14 p.m., and the caller was forced to explain to the 911 dispatcher why she was asking for another dispatch after an ambulance was already sent. “The doctor didn’t think it was necessary for her to go to the hospital, and the moment she got up, she started hemorrhaging again,” she said.

Carafem also operates abortion facilities in Maryland and Georgia and is known for its efforts to destigmatize abortion by using cheerful color schemes and hiding the equipment used to kill babies.
According to Operation Rescue’s exclusive annual survey conducted several months ago, this facility performs abortions up to 13.6 weeks gestation and mails chemical abortion pills without performing an ultrasound or medical exam – only a visit through telecommunication technology (telehealth). This easy-profit, yet dangerous, method of operating secures this particular abortion business several hundred dollars more per abortion than a surgical abortion.
“This abortion business, like all the others, has shown evidence that it is profit driven and not motivated by patient care,” said Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “The fact that the abortionist sent the medical care professionals away when this poor woman was suffering from a hemorrhage, possibly a life-threatening emergency, just confirms what we already knew. These abortionists do not care about women, they care about their bottom dollar and their reputation.
“This also explains why irresponsible abortion facilities, like this one, mail chemical abortion pills – leaving the mother to suffer with pain and dangerous consequences. Then, when emergency intervention is required, it’s no skin off the abortionist’s back. It’s up to the mother to get herself to the emergency room, and the emergency room doctors then have to pick up the bloody pieces.”
