Kamala Harris marked the first anniversary of the life-saving Dobbs v. Jackson ruling Saturday by insisting that women should have the “freedom” to abort their unborn babies.
Speaking at a pro-abortion rally in Charlotte, North Carolina, the Democrat leader blasted pro-life lawmakers as “extremists,” Townhall reports.
They “don’t even understand how a woman’s body actually works,” Harris told the crowd, ignoring that many pro-life lawmakers are women and others are doctors and nurses.
Her speech was one of a series of events by the Biden administration last week that focused on promoting abortion. Since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24, 2022, President Joe Biden and his administration have been working aggressively to make sure unborn babies continue to be killed in abortions.
The Dobbs decision brought about a historic victory for life. For nearly 50 years under Roe, states were forced to legalize abortion on demand up to viability and allowed to legalize abortions for any reason up to birth. As a result, nearly 63 million unborn babies were aborted.
Now, states may protect unborn babies from abortion again: 15 are and others are fighting in court to do so. Their pro-life laws already have saved tens of thousands of lives.
But Harris portrayed the ruling in the opposite terms, telling the pro-abortion rally that the first words that she thought when she found out about Dobbs are not fit to be shared publicly, WFAE reports.

“The three words that came to me that I publicly spoke were ‘How dare they.’ How dare they attack basic health care? How dare they attack our fundamental rights? How dare they attack our freedom?” she said.
She claimed the laws banning elective abortions are coming from “extremists” and pro-life advocates’ actions are creating a “health care crisis in America.”
“This fight is not only about people in one particular state; these extremists plan to take their agenda national. And that agenda, by the way, goes way beyond reproductive rights,” Harris continued. “Many of these same folks attack the right to vote, which prevents the teaching of America’s history.”
While urging abortion activists to vote, she called on Congress to “codify Roe” with a national law that would force states to legalize abortion on demand again.
Pro-life leaders nicknamed the bill the Abortion Without Limits Up to Birth Act because it would erase basically all abortion restrictions nationwide, including parental consent for minors, informed consent and bans on late-term abortions.
Harris has made abortion a key issue of her role as vice president. She frequently speaks about it in speeches across the country and invites abortion activists to the White House to promote their life-destroying work.
Last week, she created an exclusive video with ELLE magazine to promote killing unborn babies in abortions, the Washington Examiner reports. She described abortion on demand as “a fundamental right for women to make decisions about their own body and not have their government tell them what to do.”
“I think on this issue, it’s really important to also just remember: You don’t have to abandon your faith or your deeply held beliefs to agree that the government should not be telling a woman what to do,” Harris said.
In its first three years, the Biden administration has expanded abortions in ways no other president has tried, including by allowing abortion pills to be sold through the mail without ever seeing a doctor and forcing taxpayers to fund travel expenses and paid time off for military members and their families if they want an elective abortion.
He is using Americans’ tax dollars to create a national abortion hotline, and cutting off health care funding for poor Americans in pro-life states because of their laws banning elective abortions.
The American people do not support abortions up to birth, paid for with their tax dollars, and that is the Biden administration’s goal. Numerous polls show strong public opposition to taxpayer funding for elective abortions and strong public support for laws that limit abortions, especially after the first trimester.
