One hundred and thirty-seven abortion clinics have closed down in America since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, according to a recent report by pro-life organization Operation Rescue.

Operation Rescue published its annual report on American abortion facilities on the day of the 51st annual March for Life, January 19. The report reads, “in 2023, 49 abortion clinics closed or halted abortions. Between 2022 and 2023, a total of 136 abortion clinics have stopped killing. Cities that once had abortion mills in full operation are now abortion-free!”

Operation Rescue Senior Policy Advisor Anne Reed wrote, “This year’s national March for Life is being held three days prior to the anniversary of that horrendously unjust decision and less than two years after the anniversary of the day it was finally overturned – June 24, 2022.”

“For pro-lifers, the celebration of that day continues, but the fight to protect innocent, preborn children also rages on,” Reed continued. “Operation Rescue’s 2022 Annual Survey, released just five months after Roe’s overturn, revealed that 88 abortion clinics had closed. And the 2023 survey identified another 49 closures, totaling 137 abortion clinic closures in the last two years.”

Reed noted that the upcoming 2024 annual survey will include updates of “a small number of other abortion clinic closures and openings” that have occurred since 2023.

“The annual survey identifies trends, including types of abortions performed, increasing lack of safeguards, methods and cost of abortions, and wait times. This first-hand data often dispels the talking points of the pro-abortion mainstream media,” Reed added.

Operation Rescue President Troy Newman said, “We know that Roe is dead, and more and more abortion mills have closed. Fewer babies are dying today than in 1973, but our work is far from over. We will not relent until every abortion mill is piled up on the ash heap of history.”

Newman said, “Not only do we [at Operation Rescue] strive to keep the public informed of the corrupt abortion industry’s dark, horrid underbelly, but we work closely with boots-on-the-ground pro-lifers across the country to save lives of innocent babies by nailing shut the doors of these wretched killing centers for good!”
