The Abortion Pill is Dangerous for Women, Period

Believe me, I’m as guilty as anyone but sometimes you don’t need to write an entire volume about just how dangerous (to women) the abortion pill (mifepristone) is, just make a few salient points.

Charlie Butts, writing for American Family New sums it up in nine words. The headline reads “Pregnancy isn’t a disease, and mifepristone isn’t a cure.”’

His story is built around the great work of Dr. Randall K. O’Bannon, NRL’s Director of Education and Research.

If anyone deserves the title of expert on the abortion pill, it’s Dr. O’Bannon.

Butts writes that Dr. O’Bannon “says the abortion cartel is at it again.”

In his own words, Dr. O’Bannon writes,

“Now they’ve come out and said that … it’s safer than penicillin, safer than Viagra,” he reports. “The idea is that supposedly, if you find out that this drug is safer than those things, that you ought to be able to accept the fact that this is a very safe drug.”

CNN went so far as to write,

“Comparatively, the risk of death by penicillin — a common antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections like pneumonia — is four times greater than it is for mifepristone, according to a study on life-threatening allergic reactions.”

Penicillin is a favorite of pro-abortionists. But as Dr. O’Bannon explains

As many as 10% claim to be allergic to penicillin, but only about 1% to 5% of those taking the drugs report mild to moderate reactions like temporary rashes or asthma-like responses to the drugs. More serious reactions to the drugs, like anaphylaxis, which can include swelling, low blood pressure, abdominal pain, and difficulty breathing are considerably rarer, affecting only about .0005% of those taking penicillin.

In other words,

“The percentage of people that suffer from things like anaphylactic shock, which is the more dangerous sort of situation where you might have swelling or some sort of asthma, have trouble breathing — that’s actually not 10% but about 0.0005%.”

Butts ends with this from Dr. O’Bannon. He “concludes that drugs like penicillin and Tylenol save lives, relieve pain, and generally make life better.” By contrast “Mifepristone interrupts a healthy pregnancy, takes lives, causes incredible pain and copious bleeding, and puts a mother’s life and health at risk.”
