A leading pro-life organization said Americans shouldn’t let Joe Biden fool them. Despite his protestations to the contrary, the fact is Joe Biden supports abortions up to birth.

Although he claimed to oppose abortions in the 9th month, Biden said he fully supported Roe v. Wade – which allowed abortions up to birth.

Responding to his comments, National Right to Life told LifeNews.com that Biden’s record clearly shows his entrenched support of unlimited abortion and tonight’s debate shows that Joe Biden is willing to engage in fearmongering and misinformation to campaign on the issue.

“President Biden has made unlimited abortion a cornerstone issue of his administration,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Tonight’s debate proves once again that Joe Biden’s dogged promotion of abortion supersedes accuracy or facts.”

Tobias said Biden supports the use of taxpayer dollars to fund abortions and has used numerous legally fraught administrative actions to push abortion into pro-life states. He has called for the elimination of the Hyde Amendment, which prevents federal funds from being used to pay for abortions in many federal programs. President Biden has pledged to sign the “Women’s Health Protection Act,” a bill that would enshrine unlimited abortion until birth in federal law and do away with virtually all existing protections for unborn children and their mothers on both the federal and state levels, including parental involvement laws.

“Once again, Joe Biden tried to minimize the scope of Roe v. Wade which allowed abortions up until birth,” said Tobias. “In contrast, President Trump commended the U.S Supreme Court decision in Dobbs which returned the abortion issue to the people through their elected representatives.”

During the debate, Trump said that overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing states to protect babies from abortions was a “great decision.”

“Fifty-one years ago we had Roe v. Wade and everybody wanted to get it back to the states. Everybody. Without exception. Democrats, Republicans, liberals, conservatives, everybody wanted it back. Religious leaders,” he said.

“I put three great Supreme Court justices on the court and they happened to vote in favor of killing Roe v. Wade, and moving it back to the states,” Trump said. “Now the states are working it out.”

He said it was a “terrible thing” to let states protect babies from abortions.

“So he’s willing to, as we say, rip the baby out of the womb in the ninth month and kill the baby,” Trump said.

“Under Roe v Wade, you have late term abortion. You can do whatever you want, depending on the state. You can do whatever you want. We don’t think that’s a good thing. We think it’s a radical thing. We think the Democrats are the radicals, not the Republicans,” Trump explained correctly.

National Right to Life’s report Checking the Fact Checkers: Abortions Until Birth addresses the fact that abortions late in pregnancy do occur. A summary of the Democratic Party’s position on unlimited abortion can be found here.
