California Gov. Gavin Newsom is actively encouraging women to abort their unborn babies – and using tax dollars to do it.
On Tuesday, the Democrat governor’s administration unveiled a new, government-run website that tells women living in and outside of California how to get an abortion, The Center Square reports.
The website also includes special sections with instructions for underage girls and illegal immigrants who want to abort their unborn babies without their parents or authorities knowing.
“Abortion is legal, safe and accessible here in California – whether or not you live here, know that we have your back,” Newsom said in a statement. “As Republican states continue rolling back fundamental civil rights and even try to prevent people from accessing information online or crossing state lines for care, you’re welcome here in California and we’ll continue to fight like hell for you.”
Newsom and state Democrats lawmakers have been working aggressively to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June. They recently approved $200 million in the state budget for abortions, including $1 million to build and run the new website.
Reacting Tuesday, pro-life advocates criticized the governor for spending tax dollars to help the abortion industry instead of struggling mothers and children.

“All the incentives seem to be towards ‘Hey if you have an unplanned pregnancy, abortion is your answer and we’re going to make that so easy,’” Greg Burt, of the California Family Council, told CBS Los Angeles. “We’re not going to make adoption easy. We’re not going to make having your baby easy. We’re going to make abortion easy. And this website just sends that message.”
John Gerardi, executive director of Right to Life of Central California, said the website is another example of the “extreme” pro-abortion actions that state lawmakers have prioritized this year, according to ABC 7.
The pro-abortion website does not promote “reproductive health care” or pregnancy options. It promotes the killing of unborn babies in abortions by telling women how to get a taxpayer-funded abortion or mail-order abortion drugs, or how California taxpayers will help pay for women from pro-life states to travel to abort their unborn babies.
Abortion.ca.gov, lists clinics, links to financial help for travel and lodging and lets teenagers in other states know they don’t need their parents’ permission to get an abortion in the state. The site also has sections devoted to illegal immigrants in the U.S., saying federal policies keep immigration officials away from health care facilities.
The website has a map showing the location of 166 abortion clinics statewide. People can click to see an entire map, or they can enter a city and get a list of clinics nearby. It also says people who live in California can get abortion medication by mail, forgoing the need to visit a clinic.
The website does not include information about where women can find pregnancy and parenting assistance or adoption support. It does not mention abortion risks or provide information about fetal development either.
Newsom has been working directly with abortion businesses and pro-abortion groups for months to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortions. In May, he said abortion is one of California’s “values,” and he will “fight like hell” to “protect it.”
His state budget includes $40 million to pay to abort unborn babies whose mothers do not already qualify for a Medicaid-funded abortion or have insurance coverage for the elective, life-destroying procedure.
Additionally, Newsom allocated $15 million to help pro-abortion groups advertise and promote abortions and $1 million for research on “the unmet needs for access to reproductive health care services.” The governor also wants to create financial incentives to encourage medical students to become abortionists.
California has very few limits on abortion, and it forces taxpayers to pay for them. A new law slated to go into effect next year will force all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus. It has the highest number of abortion facilities in the country at 168, and more than 100,000 unborn babies are aborted there every year, according to a new ANSIRH study and the Guttmacher Institute.
