Abortion Goes Against the Bible, Which Says We’re “Fearfully and Wonderfully Made” by God

I have been reading a book which deals with something called the Imago Dei.

The basic concept is that human beings are made in the image and likeness of God.

This has profound implications for the way human beings treat one another. For, if we have a divine birthright, we have an inherent dignity that cannot be erased.

It also makes the practice of abortion all the more disturbing. For, in taking the life of a preborn child, we are trampling on her rights as a daughter of a heavenly King.

You can have no religious faith at all and still believe in the nobility of the pro-life cause. But for those who espouse Christianity, the Imago Dei cannot be denied and the grandeur of a baby inside a mother’s womb is self-evident.

We are all fearfully and wonderfully made, as the Bible teaches. To promote abortion is to go against a timeless Biblical truth for the sake of expediency. The unborn child carries the Imago Dei and, as a result, should be safeguarded against harm. To deliberately take the life of the child in the womb is an affront to human dignity and to the humanity we all share.
