Former Dukes of Hazzard actor John Schneider has a new video message for pro-life advocates — thanking them for making the pro-life film October Baby a surprise success at the box office.
Schneider is now working on another positive, family-oriented movie, Hardflip.
“I want to thank you for your support of October Baby,” Schneider said. “Because of you, this beautiful film was an unprecedented, tremendous success.”
“Now I’m asking you to do the very same thing for another film. It opens June 1st and it’s called Hardflip,” the actor added. “Now this film shares the Gospel in a very powerful and relevant way. I want to thank you again for your support of October Baby and I want to thank you in advance for your support of Hardflip.”
“Remember, it opens June 1st, thank you very much,” he concluded.
After a resounding success in a limited release, October Baby was drawing rave reviews and it received strong support from the public — despite the premier of other top films on its opening weekend.
Although much of the media focus for the weekend centered on the premier of “The Hunger Games” and the second week of “21 Jump Street,” October Baby cracked the top 10 in its first full weekend of release. The pro-life movie received about $1.7 million on only 390 screens for a ninth place finish, according to BoxOfficeMojo.com. Had the movie been screened in more locations, it would have done better — as evidenced by its $4,405 per screen haul, the third highest screen average of the weekend.
The family movie organization Movie to Movement has more on the newest film Schneider mentioned:
What happens when your life takes a hard flip? Teenager Caleb Jones goes skateboarding.
With no father in his life to guide him and his mother, Beth, working two jobs to make ends meet, Caleb believes nothing matters in life but to become a sponsored skater to get him away from all his troubles. When his mother falls ill, Caleb is forced to deal with her illness and his lack of responsibility.
Through the tragedy of his mother’s illness and the sudden appearance of the father, Caleb becomes the man his mother always prayed he’d be.
Hardflip is a story of what can happen when we let go of our anger and pain and willingness to forgive those who’ve hurt us most, just as God forgives us.
