The shocking ad from the Obama campaign that compares voting to sex and first-time voting to losing one’s virginity is a copycat of an ad released during a Russian election campaign by Vladimir Putin. The Putin ad was also intended to appeal to younger voters based on sexual themes.
In the Obama campaign ad, left-wing actress Lena Dunham says, “Your first time shouldn’t be with just anybody. You want to do it with a great guy.” Later, the view learns she is talking about voting and not sex.
But the Washington Examiner points out today that the Obama ad is remarkably similar to the Putin ad, which has a fortune teller promising a young woman that she will eventually find the man of her dreams (Putin).
The Obama version is drawing condemnation from voters across the Internet, with most finding it repulsive and disgusting.
